2019 Playoff Preview

Going into week 15, all eight teams had an opportunity to make it into the playoffs. The Express disappointingly forfeited their match-ups against the Monsters, meaning only the Hackers would challenge the Black Sox for the sixth and final playoff spot. The Hackers pulled off a massive sweep of the Kings while the Black Sox dropped both games to the Owls, meaning Naugatuck has earned their 14th consecutive playoff appearance. The Flyers also finished strong with a sweep over the Banditos. Despite the sweep, major congratulations are in order for the New Haven Kings who have secured their first playoff berth in just their second season with the league. Here were the scores Sunday:

Stratford Owls vs. CT Black Sox

Game 1: 17-3 Owls

Game 2: 8-3 Owls

Naugatuck Hackers vs. New Haven Kings

Game 1: 4-1 Hackers

Game 2: 6-5 Hackers

CT Flyers vs. Silver City Banditos

Game 1: 3-1 Flyers

Game 2: 8-4 Flyers

New Haven Express forfeit to Milford Monsters (Milford awarded two 10-0 victories)

With that, here are the final standings of the 2019 regular season:

The playoffs begin next weekend with a new format. Both the quarterfinals and semi finals will be completed in one Sunday with a slate of four single elimination games. These match ups will be played at the home fields of our top two seeds: Veterans Field in Bridgeport and Jonathan Law HS in Milford. Here are the match-ups for this Sunday, August 11:

Veterans Bracket (Bridgeport)

Quarterfinal (10AM): Stratford Owls vs. New Haven Kings

Semifinal (12:30 PM): Owls/Kings winner vs. CT Flyers

Law Bracket (Milford)

Quarterfinal (10AM): Naugatuck Hackers vs. Silver City Banditos

Semifinal (12:30 PM): Hackers/Banditos winner vs. Milford Monsters

The 2019 NSBL Championship Game will take place on August 18 at a location TBD. There it is - the stage is set. Six teams enter but only one will end the season as our champion. Good luck to all of our playoff teams!
